A Military Funeral with Honors is planned at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Chum was first of six children born to Clement Joseph Stine, Sr and Muriel A. Stine (Kane) in Fairmont, Minnesota June 24, 1948. After graduating from High School, he joined the Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he married Sandra Marie Ordyneic, and had two sons, Chum Joshua and Aaron Christopher.
Chum became a General Contractor and worked many projects including building the Spaghetti Factory Franchises across the country. He settled in San Diego for a short while, then on to Vail Colorado, building custom homes and restaurants. His work took him to Wayward, Wisconsin for a few years, then further East to Colchester, Vermont where he continued to build custom homes and remodeling projects.
His adventurous spirit lead him to his travels to Port Charlotte, Florida and then on to explore Costa Rica. His sons, Chum and Aaron later joined him, bought a renovated school bus and traveled from Vermont through Mexico and into Belize. After a few months they ended up in Las Vegas, Nevada. His sons moved in different directions and Chum ended up in Reno Nevada for a few years and then Honolulu, Hawaii to undertake a new project of insurance renovations.
Honolulu became Chum's second home where he developed great friends, became an active member of the Hui Nalu Canoe Club and began his passion for being Santa Claus at Windward Mall. As the Aloha Santa, he traveled to the mainland, got a RV camper to visit friends and family, to spread the spirit of Christmas.
Chum was known for talking story, if you ever had the opportunity to enjoy his company you would be completely encapsulated by his amazing and fun descriptions of adventures he's had and the one's planned for the future. He was and is the very definition of a "free spirit".
He was very proud of his military service and a member of the VFW. Clem passed away at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, on March 11, 2021 at 72 years young. Preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Muriel, brother-in-law Michael Wakeling and nephew Chad Hanson. He is loved and cherished by his former wife, Sandra and his sons, Chum(Stacy), Aaron(Kathleen), his grandchildren Chloe, Miles, Clement and Otto; endeared siblings Roberta "Bertie" Wakeling, Peggy Hanson, Michael Stine, Greg (Sharon), Jeff (Lynn) Stine, his BFF Kt, and many lifelong friends and family members.
