March 11, 2024, he will return home to American Samoa where he will lay in rest for all
eternity side by side with his beloved wife, Se’epa, who has gone before him.

Peti Mata’u Sr. lived a long and prosperous life. Blessed with a big family, and a lot of
friends who loved him dearly. He was not a man of many words, but his actions spoke
louder than his words. He was blessed to have been raised and molded by so many
mother figures and family elders who played vital and instrumental roles in his upbringing
as a young family man, and whom he held so dear to his heart.
On May 6, 1967, he married his wife of 47 years who had gone before him. In the early
morning of Feb. 1, 2024, he passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Pearl
City, Hawaii, with his loved ones. He was 78 years old. He is reunited with his wife,
Se’epa, and his sons, Harry, Champion, Fa’aili, and many other loved ones. His legacy will
continue to live on with his 7 children, 16 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is
dearly loved and missed by so many people whose lives he touched. He may be gone
physically, but his spirit will live on in all of us. May his soul rest in peace.
