Rita Sikuka Afalava

07/18/1965 - 01/03/2026

Celebration of Life

Rita Sikuka Afalava, born July 18, 1965, age 60, was beloved by all who knew her and was truly the heartbeat of her family and community. The fourth of six children, Rita carried a special role in her family-one filled with love, laughter, and deep connection.
Rita was the face of the Hau'ula 7-Eleven. When you went there, you knew Aunty Rita. She wasn't just an employee-she was family to the community. Her warm presence, joyful spirit, and genuine care left a lasting impression on everyone who walked through those doors.
Family was everything to Rita. She loved her siblings deeply and found comfort in them, relying on them always, just as they would drop everything for her as she did for anyone else. She was the best aunty-truly a second mom to all of her nieces and nephews, and a second grandma to her grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Spoiling them brought her pure joy, especially during her favorite holidays, Christmas and Easter, when her love and generosity shined the brightest.
Rita adored watching her nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews play sports. She was their biggest cheerleader-always sitting in the front, proudly wearing shirts with their faces printed on them, filled with pride and excitement.
She was full of life and laughter. Her sense of humor brought joy to every family gathering. Her colorful words and inappropriate jokes were always acceptable-because that was just Aunty Rita. She had the biggest heart and loved deeply, never wanting to burden anyone, yet always surrounded by love.
Rita was God-fearing and loved our Heavenly Father. Her faith guided her life and gave her strength and peace.

She is survived by her siblings Mona Ah-Hoy, Teresa Tanoai, Kesi Afalava, and Stella Ale, along with her brothers- and sisters-in-law whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother Mitch Afalava, who passed in September 2025, and her parents Nanavale Afalava and Kesi Afalava.
Rita also leaves behind 9 nephews, 10 nieces, 32 grand-nephews, and 22 grand-nieces, all of whom were the light of her life.

Our hearts are broken knowing we won't be able to see her, hug her, laugh with her, joke with her, or feel safe with her anymore. But her love, laughter, faith, and unforgettable spirit will live on forever in all of us.
