Visitation 9:30am, Eulogy 10:45; Mass 11am; Reception to follow. Burial at 2pm at the Veterans Cemetery at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery in Kāneʻohe.
MARY ANNETTE ( MARY ANN) LOPES
Mary Annette (Mary Ann) Lopes, 84, of Kailua, was called home to our Heavenly Father surrounded by her loving family on June 24, 2026. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, of 45 years, John Gilbert Lopes.
Mary Ann lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. She dedicated 31 years of Service to the Hawaii Catholic Schools system, teaching at her Alma mater, Sacred Hearts Academy, St. Joseph’s Hilo, and retiring from Cathedral School in Nu’uanu as Principal, where she was known for her kindness, dedication, and care for her students and colleagues.
Above all, Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved unconditionally. She treasured time spent with her immediate family, cousins and friends. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband , John G. Lopes, survived by her son, John L. (Kimberly) Lopes; daughters, Michelle (Darrick) Lopes and Christine (John) Asing, Jr.; grandchildren, Cody (Kenni) Ford, Shelby Ford, Alexander Koa, Ava, Angela Asing, Samuel (Jenny) Morgan, Sarah Morgan, and Kadin Turner (Lopes); great-grandchildren, Alex and Ben Morgan, and Tyde Sakai.
